Fortitude Financial Planning

We did it again…

…we won the New Model Adviser 2018 award for the Midlands Region for the 3rd time (having won it in 2014 and 2015).

Mark was delighted to attend the awards ceremony and collect our award from Rory Bremner.

In their summary of our achievement the New Model Adviser editorial read:

“Fortitude has had a fantastic year. Recent stories from the firm include director Neil Bailey joining a 12-strong panel of financial planners appointed by the Personal Finance Society to help promote and develop the financial advice profession.

Fortitude director Mark White (pictured centre) said: ‘I would hope it’s [to do with] our consistent philosophy.’

He added: ‘Proper financial planning is at the heart of what we do. We’ve never deviated from that over the years. We believe all clients need proper financial planning.’”

We don’t take any of this success for granted, however.  We are continually aware that we need to maintain high levels of client service whilst keeping an eye on future developments in our profession so that we are able to remain leaders and influencers.

More awards…

We are delighted to announce that Chris has been recognised as Inheritance Tax Planner of the year (2017) in Money Management’s annual Financial Planner Awards.

These awards recognise the very best of the advice profession. Candidates were required to submit an example of recent client work that related to IHT planning (with client names and personally identifiable information redacted). Along with his entry, Chris was required to summarise how his work met the stated criteria. Each submission was marked against the international financial planning standards set by the Financial Planning Standards Board.  As one of five candidates shortlisted in this category Chris then attended a face to face interview at the head office of the Financial Times in London. The interview revolved around questions based on a case study, the details of which were provided in advance.

Chris said “I am incredibly proud of this achievement.  Inheritance tax planning is a priority for many of Fortitude’s clients; we use a lifetime cashflow to demonstrate what action can be taken today without compromising their ability to live the life that they want in the future.”

In other great news Fortitude has again been included in the New Model Adviser Top 100 for another year.  Our inclusion recognises our Planners’ qualifications, our profitability, reinvestment into the business, our commitment to the profession and the continued development of best practice in the industry.

We’re in the Top 100, again!

We are delighted to be included as one of the New Model Adviser® Top 100 firms for the 3rd year in succession.

The editor, Will Robbins, says

“As with last year, our approach to this list has been to find sustainable businesses.  The methodology is still discussed with and approved by actuaries AKG. It recognises firms’ profitability and the proportion of reinvestment into businesses.

As ever, it also takes into account qualifications and commitment to the advice profession, and we have added a bit more emphasis on efforts to develop and share best practice.”

Achieving this hat-trick of listings reflects well on all our colleagues at Fortitude.  However we couldn’t have done it without the support and feedback that we receive from our wonderful clients.

Winners for the second year running!

We are delighted to have been awarded the New Model Adviser ® of the Year for the Midlands region for the second successive year.

150108 NWB NMA AwardNeil attended the Conference and accepted the award from Clive Anderson on behalf of everyone at Fortitude….here he is pictured with Nick Cann of the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP).  Four of the eight winning firms were, like us, Accredited Financial Planning Firms ™, reflecting the extremely high professional standards and the strong businesses that members of the IFP operate.

Neil commented that we would waste no time resting on our laurels and that we will continue to perfect our practices in 2015.

Fortitude has also made the shortlist for the Professional Adviser Awards, so please keep fingers crossed for us on the 12th February, when the winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in London.

Celebrating our inclusion as a Top 100 Adviser

PrintWe are delighted that the Citywire publication, New Model Adviser, has recently named us in their Top 100 which “celebrates the best of the professional financial planning community.”

Their methodology, which recognises firms’ profitability, assets under advice, recurring income, qualifications and commitment to the profession, is approved by actuaries AKG.

The editor, Alex Steger, says “The list we have arrived at showcases 100 firms at the top of their game.  This is not to say they are all the same.  What [they] all have in common is a strong commitment to the profession.”

The “Top 100” will take its place alongside our other 2014 successes, which include winning the New Model Adviser of the Year for the Midlands Region and a “highly commended” in the Professional Adviser awards.

New Model Adviser® Award Winner!

2014 has got off to a great start for us at Fortitude; we were awarded the New Model Adviser ® of the Year for the Midlands region at the end of last week.

140113 NMA Award Presentation

Neil attended the Conference and was delighted to accept the award from comedian Ed Byrne on behalf of everyone at Fortitude.  He commented:

“We are really pleased to have received this award because it is the firm that is being judged, rather than a particular individual.  This means that the success reflects well on the whole team, particularly when one takes into account the quality of the firms we were up against”

The judging criteria for the awards take into account both quantitative factors (such as profitability and funds under advice) and qualitative factors (such as adviser qualifications, client communications, processes and commitment to improving the profession).

One of the questions we were asked was “What makes your business unique?”

We believe that a business is made unique by the qualities and characters of the people within it. We have put a lot of effort into making sure that we have the best people doing the bits of the job they are best at. This gives our team members a feeling of engagement and the clients receive the service they deserve (and a level of personal care which they do not receive elsewhere in their lives).

Great service alone does not make a business unique, what we have is a combination of relevant experience and technical expertise, which combine to create the empathy and support that we provide for our clients at all stages in their lives.  Our clients recognise and appreciate that we have a culture where we really do care about doing the right thing right first time.

Fortitude has also made the shortlist for the Professional Adviser Awards, so please keep fingers crossed for us on the 13th February, when the winner will be announced at an awards ceremony to be held at The Brewery (no giggling please) in London.
